WHY SOBER LIVING?
Alcoholics and addicts, usually individuals who chronically relapse, are
encouraged to choose "aftercare" - extended and supervised sober living in an
environment that is structured, yet allows them to "get back to the business of
living". Statistics prove reduction in recidivism rates for those who
choose aftercare; the longer they are sober, the better chance they have of
staying sober.
Drug and DUI Courts use sober living as part of their treatment plan in lieu of
sending offenders to jail. The Court views these efforts to rehabilitate
as a
more productive option to incarnation. Probationers may be sentenced to
sober living houses as one of the condition of their probation. Providence
Place can design and monitor compliance with a sober living program to meet the
requirements of court ordered probation referrals.
Our guests come from all walks in life, each of them experiencing one of
life's
"great equalizers" - alcohol and chemical dependency.
Ironically, this common thread, brings our guests together and establishes
friendships among people who would never socialize, creates bonds of trust and
intimacy that most people only dream about yet never experience...if not
for the life threatening disease of addiction and alcoholism that brought
them together.
